ITALIAN SPRING PIPING SCHOOL  : A' BRIGA'
Posted by admin on 2011/1/29 22:10:00 (2665 reads)

The Italian band A Brigà brings together musicians from as diverse backgrounds as French folk, Irish folk, pop, swing, original music - and what do you get out of this mixture? You may be surprised but the result is excellent and varied Italian bal folk music and songs. The music shows influences from other countries - there is a French bourée or a Schottische - or styles e.g. swing.
A Brigà is an ensemble of seven musicians from different backgrounds: French folk, pop, jazz, singer-songwriter and Irish folk. The instrumentation is acoustic and includes fiddle, guitar, bouzouki, clarinet, bagpipes, drums, bass and whistle and the arrangements are flavoured by the diverse backgrounds of the musicians.
There is a refreshing lightness of touch to the dance rhythms that run throughout the music and a lots of ambitious arrangement ideas sometimes fall flat but are invigorating when the work well.

ITALIAN SPRING PIPING SCHOOL  : ECLETNICA PAGUS
Posted by admin on 2011/1/29 19:40:00 (2620 reads)

It is born in the Angevin stateroom of the Norman Court in the Baronal Castle De Iorio Frisari. The group chooses Pagus as its name, that is the Latin word meaning the ancient Samnite village. The peculiar roots melt into an unique musical genre, properly defined “ecletnic”, a term explaining the melting between ethnical instruments (Italian bagpipe, accordion and percussions) and the ones belonging to the classical music (harp, oboe and bass clarinet), The result is an eclectic music, completely dedicated to the musicians’ land, Molise. Their love has brought to a very deep search which has made this extraordinary ensemble to perform for important musical institutions such as S. Cecilia Academy in Rome, Ravello Festival, Emilia Romagna Festival, Sorrento Jazz, Oratorio del Gonfalone in Rome and so on. Lots of glamorous concerts have been given abroad, in France, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Poland, Albany, Turkey, Scotland, England, USA, Canada and Russia. The ensemble also played the opening part of 2008 Epiphany concert which was broadcast wide world from the RAI Auditorium in Naples. It has also starred more than once the Maurizio Costanzo Show, a popular Italian.
