Chris Gibb

Chris Gibb is originally from Edinburgh where he received piping tuition from Willie McBride and George Lumsden. His early piping was through the pipe band scene, where he played with Drambuie Kirkliston Pipe Band. Later on in his piping carear, Chris began entering solo competitions where he has had success ever since.
Chris moved to the East coast of Canada in 1999 where he spent two years, and was first exposed to the music of Cape Breton, confirming his desire to make music his career.
In 2002 Chris moved to Glasgow to begin his studies. While in Glasgow, he joined ScottishPower Pipe Band and began receiving tuition from Roddy MacLeod M.B.E.
In 2006, Chris graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD), with a Honors Degree Scottish Music (Piping). At the RSAMD Chris was able to continue his study of both competitive piping and creative traditional music.
Chris has recorded on various albums as a session musician and on albums with Finlay MacDonald and Simon McKerrell, The National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland and ScottishPower Pipe band.
For the past 6 year, Chris has been employed by Stirling Council as their full time Piping Tutor. As part of his work, Chris teaches children of all ages in the Stirling area, along with running a successful Novice Juvenile Pipe Band.
